We offer a repeat prescription service. These should be requested at least three working days in advance and left in the surgery in the prescription boxes provided. You may pick the prescription up from the surgery or from a pharmacy of your choice, but please inform us of your choice of pharmacy or you may supply a stamped, addressed envelope if you prefer us to send the prescription to you.
Repeat prescriptions WILL NOT be accepted by telephone. This is for your safety to eliminate any possibility for error.
You can order your repeat prescription, book appointments, view your health record, register to be an organ donor via the NHS App.
If you are currently using MyGP App to order your repeat prescriptions you can continue to do so but you will not be able to use e-consult so please go to our website.
If you have signed up for our online services you are now able to order repeat prescriptions online.
Over the Counter Medication
Please do not request a prescription for Over the Counter (OTC) medications. These are medicines that can be bought in a pharmacy or local supermarket.
Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), along with others across the country, has formally requested its GPs to stop routinely prescribing OTC products that can be purchased from chemists and supermarkets to ensure that scarce NHS resources in DGS are focused on meeting the health needs of its population. If GPs in DGS stop prescribing OTC products, the CCG can redirect this money into better care for its population.
Routine Medical Reviews for Patients on Medication
Patients who are on regular medication are expected to attend the surgery for a review usually annually, sometimes sooner depending on the medication.
If you are having regular Blood Tests, e.g. patients on blood pressure tablets, it is sensible to have these tests a week before seeing the Doctor, so that the results are available for discussion when you arrive, particularly important if there are any abnormalities.
Blood tests can be done at the surgery as well as at the hospital. We book routine appointments with the GP one week in advance, the receptionist can arrange the blood test one week before you are due to see the GP and it is best to make the appointment when you have your blood taken.
